Most common: cause for this sensation (if occurring in isolation without other symptoms) would be esophageal problem: food getting stuck, spasm, reflux/erosion, infection. If the lump is not a sensation, but a physical lump under the skin, then it should be examined by a physician and could be cyst, lipoma or worse
