A member asked:

What to do if i have a friend who is addicted to taking 30mg oxycodones. i'm worried because he takes on average 3-4 a day. is he close to overdosing?

Not likely: While this may seem like a large dose to you, and it would be for someone who was opioid-naive, people who are on oxycodone for pain can take doses of 90-120 mg a day routinely. The highest dose I had a patient on was 720 mg per day. There is a difference between addiction and physical dependency, and I don't know what your friend has. If you are concerned, try an Alanon meeting to help YOU.
