Both are common: Dryness and floaters are among the most common eye complaints and the most persistent, thus it would not be unlikely for each to occur at the same time or within close succession of each other. Floaters are caused by vitreous degeneration in the posterior chamber of the eye. Dry eye occurs on the surface.
