Depends on why: The rheumatoid factor blood test is designed to confirm rheumatoid arthritis in patients who have the symptoms and the physical signs of rheumatoid arthritis (ra). If there is no hard evidence to suspect ra, the test is worthless as it cannot diagnose RA just by being positive. There are numerous causes for a false positive rheumatoid factor. Healthy individuals may have a positive test.
