It should return: Often when sleeping or keeping a limb in a certain position for a prolonged period of time either circulation is reduced or nerve compression occurs and this will cause of loss of function. Most of the time sensation and movement return within 1-3 minutes once the person awakens or moves the limb. Sometimes it takes longer. You should see a neurologist if no improvement for much longer.
