A member asked:

How do parents pass on the immunity to rubella?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Transient at best: A pregnant woman passes antibodies to her baby through the placenta. These antibodies are protective during and for a few months after birth, by disappear. The vaccine is rarely effective if given before a year and at that point brings immunity to 85% with one dose.A second dose brings it up to >95%. Dad passes nothing. Mom's is temporary, vaccination is required for best protection.
