My husband had his right kidney removed over 2 months ago, can he have an occasional alcoholic drink every now and then?

Short answer, yes: He shouldn't have any problems with an occasional alcoholic beverage. But avoid any anti-inflammatories (Advil, Aleve, (naproxen) etc) until you clear them w/ his doctor.

His choice: If your husband drinks alcohol, it is best to do it in moderation. As acute and chronic alcohol consumption can interfere with kidney function indirectly as a consequence of liver disease. This means that drinking should not get him intoxicated, or drunk, and that he has no more than 2 drinks per day. A drink should be defined as 12 ounces of beer, 5 ounces of wine, or 1½ ounces of liquor.
