You could say no: Don't be upset about having this test ordered. If you watch House, you know that doctors have to make sure we have considered all possibilities. If you have had sex or blood transfusions, then you are at risk for having HIV, albeit low. A negative HIV test is just a way for the doctor to cross this off his differential. (List of possible reasons why patients could get the complaint they have.)
