A member asked:

Do babies usually cry when they come out of the mother during labor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: With the transition to life outside the womb, one of the biggest changes is initiation of breathing. Babies will often cry some as they start breathing, and one of the factors we assess in the evaluation of the newborn is a good cry as a sign of normal respiratory effort.
