Low cells: A "low blood count" usually means a low value or # of cells in the CBC (complete blood count). There are many numbers in a cbc, but the main ones are HGB (measure of red blood cells = rbc), WBC (=white bc), and platelets. The other numbers and "differential" help further clarify the cyto(=cell)penia(=low). Additional labs or a bone marrow biopsy may be necessary to evaluate.

Anemia and more: Low red cell count means anemia and it can be due to many reasons. Low white blood cell counts have a broader spectrum and each type of white cell count has different meaning.
