Depends: A doctor/patient relationship is a two way street. The best you can do is be honest with your new doctor about the reason for your dismissal. Each doctor is different, obviously, and may have different tolerances about the reason for your prior dismissal. Honestly, many doctors may just wish to avoid a potential problem. It will take patience on your part and an open mind for your new doctor.

Yes: You are welcome to see another doctor. The reasons under which you were dismissed will come up. No doctor is ever obligated to prescribe opioids/narcotics to any patient. Prescribing opioids is a professional risk for a physician, and it is a safety risk for a patient. So when a physician doesn't feel comfortable prescribing medication, he is concerned of the patient's safety or their license.
