Is it sunburn: If you exposed that area to the sun for a time and had a burn than yes its sunburn.
Preventing further injury by avoiding more sun exposure, cool soaks may also help steroids as a last resort. However if you suddenly developed this red hot and painful area that kills you may have an infection and should have it checked by a physician.
