Depersonalization: Depersonalization/Derealization (DSM 300.6) is it's own disorder but also is characteristic of other dissociation events (function is need for psych. distance). It can result from a recent overwhelming experience (death of loved one, loss of job, fire, medical diagnosis), trauma (assault, abuse) but also from panic episodes or depression.
