Over and Under: HYPOthyroid is underactive thyroid whereas HYPERthyroid is overactive. Symtoms of hypo include fatigue, dry, brittle nails and hair, constipation, low body temperature, cold intolerance, depression, weight gain or inability to lose weight, lethargy, and abnormal blood lipids. Symptoms of hyper would essentially be the opposite.
