Sx of Tachyphylaxis?: Chronic red eye treated with over the counter astringent eye drops will eventually cause tachyphylaxis, an intolerance to stopping the astringent eye drops. Use preservative free artificial tears regularly in both eyes four or more times daily, and if this does not help, see a cornea and external disease specialist to exclude adult inclusion disease or other forms of chronic conjunctivitis.

Get rid of red eyes: Fastest way is not always the best way. Visine or Phenylephrine work fast but can cause rebound redness if underlying cause is not addressed. Cold compresses, cold non-preserved artificial tears can work for allergy related redness; also Ketorolac. See eyedoc2020@blogspot.com for lid hygiene routine on how to naturally help with redness. If not improvement, may need MD eval to see underlying cause
