Can you tell me how parkinson's relate to nerve cells?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Parkinsons and nerve: In Parkinsons disease, neurons or nerve cells within the substantia nigra degenerate. These cells make a neurotransmitter called dopamine. This is used to modulate movements governed by nerve cells within the globus pallidus and caudate structures within the brain. Treatment of this condition is often initiated with a medicine that contains levodopa - this often improves walking etc.
