Summary: MS is an autoimmune disorder which affects, brain, spinal cord, and eyes. The most common type is relapsing/remitting, but also primary progressive, secondary progressive, relapsing progressive, and benign. CIS is an initial phase usually of relapsing/remitting, and RIS is finding MS activity on an MRI prior to the disease presenting clinically.
