Meningitis vaccine: The current meningococcal meningitis vaccine is to be boosted at 5 years from the first, or upon leaving for college or military if you are living in a dorm or barracks - whichever comes first. So if you get first dose as recommended at age 11, second dose age 16. If first dose was at 15, then get another one already as you leave for college at age 17-18, even if it hasn't been 5 years.

What type?: The meningococcal meningitis vaccine is recommended for children 11 years old and up, with a booster at age 16 or older. If the first one is given at 16 or later, no booster is recommended. Younger children, or older adults, who have an immune system problem may have it recommended for them. You should ask your/your children's doctor about your specific circumstance.
