A member asked:

How to get diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Stage IV hepatocellular cancer is defined by a tumor that originates in the liver and spreads to distant sites like the lung or other organs. The diagnosis may be made with a CT scan and occasionally liver-specific tumor markers like Alpha fetoprotein (AFP). Other Stage IV cancers like colorectal cancer can spread to the liver, but that is technically different.
