Depends...: How heavily you bleed depends on many factors such as the gestational age and if the miscarriage happened on its own or you had a D&C. A miscarriage may be like a heavy period at 4 weeks; at 12 weeks you can have bleeding that requires a transfusion and surgery (D&C). Most women can do it on their own prior to 7-8 weeks.
