Depends...: COPD is a slowly progressive disease. The rate of progression for an individual patient depends on a lot of factors including whether or not the person is still smoking. Smoking definitely increases the disease progression. If the person's oxygen level is low, then oxygen therapy will slow disease progression. Inhaled bronchodilator and steroids will help with symptoms.
