A shot and not: As dr. Milstone said, Coumadin (warfarin) in a pill and Lovenox is a shot. The amount of Coumadin (warfarin) you take has to be checked with blood tests on a regular basis. Lovenox does not but Lovenox can cause a very serious side effect involving your platelets that Coumadin (warfarin) doesn't. Lovenox is expenisve, Coumadin (warfarin) is much cheaper. Both can cause bleeding. If that happens, the effects of Lovenox reverse faster.
