UTI in men: Standard urinary tract infection (UTI) is rare in men, although the risk is higher with aging (largely due to prostate problems) or in those with anatomic abnormalities of the urinary tract, previous surgery, catheter, etc. In younger men without these risk factors, STDs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) cause most infections of the lower urinary tract.
