L/S Endocarditis: Libman-Sacks endocarditis (a process affecting the inner lining of the heart) is a nonbacterial (so non-infectious) thrombotic (clot forming) endocarditis. It is the most characteristic cardiac manifestation of the autoimmune disease (systemic lupus erythematosus - SLE). The condition most commonly involves the mitral and aortic valves but can effect all the valve of the heart.
