A member asked:

Is it possible for transgenders to ever change their chromosones?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not at present time!: Most transgender individuals have the chromosomal makeup of their birth gender. Genetic males have XY, genetic females have XX. There are some other variations such as XO and XYY. So far, the outward appearance can be changed (the "phenotype") - but not the chromosomal makeup (the "genotype"). Who knows what will be possible in the future? LGromkoMD
