Yes: A stroke occurs when a part of the brain lacks blood flow or when a blood vessel bursts and spills blood is an area of the brain. This causes the affected part of the brain to die. The good news is that in many people the areas adjacent to the stroke take over and function recovers. Recovery depends on many factors including the size of the stroke. Rehabilitation helps maximize recovery.
