Later: hormones go up with increasing pregnancy. The lower the level, the more likelihood the test will be negative EVEN IF YOU ARE PREGNANT. nobody building these tests expects someone to run it before their period is late, and so it is not validated, not expected to work before the period is actually late. Wait at least 28 days past last period, or run it earlier, but believe a NEGATIVE
