Peds sleep apnea: The types of sleep apnea in children are the same as those in adults. Obstructive apnea occurs when the airway closes off usually form large tonsils and adenoids or other airway abnormalities. Central sleep apnea occurs when the brain does not tell your respiratory muscles to breathe. Central apnea occurs with neurological disorders and can also be a side effect of medicine.

In most cases: Is obstructive apnea due to huge tonsil and adenoid. In some cases there is possibility of central sleep apnea.
