A member asked:

How do they do an upper gi study on a baby for reflux?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bottle feeding: Baby is placed on the flouroscopy table, shielded and fed liquid barium while the radiologist watches using short sequences of imaging. If no reflux is initially seen we may change the baby's positions until reflux is documented. During this time the anatomy of the esophagus, stomach and proximal intestine is examined. Safe, quick and comfortable exam.
