Facial weakness: These functions are controlled by completely different 'cranial' nerves - there are 12 pairs. Facial movement and facial sensation are ALWAYS separate functions. So some more common causes of facial weakness include stroke (elderly) and Bell's palsy (all ages). Any presentation of facial weakness should be examined in clinic.

Many causes: The nerve that provides motor movement to the mouth or face is a different nerve from the one that provides sensation. See your doctor if you have facial nerve weakness for further evaluation to determine cause
