Fungus,tick,mite: Dogs can harbor fungal or parasite infections which can be spread to humans. If there is itchy rash treat child and check dog for rashes.Treat both child and animal to prevent reinfection in child.

Yes: In addition to info from dr westfried - a child may have an allergy to the dog's dander which could cause rash or illness.
