If you have: serious side effects from zyprexa (olanzapine) - it would be reasonable to ask for a trial with a different atypical antipsychotic.

Be honest with doc!: If you are having unpleasant side effects from the medication, have an honest discussion with your doc about the side effects. He or she should address your concerns, usually by switching meds or by adding a med to reduce or eliminate the side effects. If you want to get off it because you don't like the idea of being on it, that warrants a frank discussion, too.

Zyprexa (olanzapine): Your psychiatrist has probably prescribed zyprexa (olanzapine) for you, for particular reasons -- such as psychosis or treatment-resistant depression. Safety stopping this medicine -- or changing to a different one -- depends on how stable your symptoms are on zyprexa (olanzapine) now. Are there side effects which concern you? You could discuss these with your doctor ; ask whether there might be suitable substitutes.
