Kidney stones: Some stones are invisible on XRAY, called radiotransparent while others are called radioopaque and are seen on XRAYs. So, an XRAY that shows no stones does not mean you have no stones. There are other more sophisticated tests such as an IVP, intravenous pyelogram for finding of such translucent stones.
