Can you tell me how to treat a hernia?

Surgery: Hernias are usually repaired using mesh with surgery. Depending on where the hernia is, it can be done open or lap. The mesh is used as a barrier to increase the strength of the repair and avoid recurrence. Most groin and umbilical hernia's can be fixed on an outpatient basis and recovery only takes a few days.

Operation: A surgical procedure is the only way to repair a hernia, but not all hernias need to (or should) be repaired. See a general surgeon for a consultation to find out more. You can find one interested in hernia disease at the Americas Hernia Society website. Hope this helps!
