REad below: Physical medicine and rehabilition (pm&r) concerns bringing a person to his or her individual highest level of function regardless of the underlying illness or disability. Most pm&r speicialists (physicatrist) specialise in particular disorders such as spinal cord or brain injury, nerve injury or musculosckeletal injury, or occupational health, or children's physical problems.

Focus: Occupational medicine focuses on return to work. Physical medicine and rehabilitation is much more diverse. Some specialists in pmr do occupational medicine, but many have other focuses like pain management, brain injury, spinal cord injury or pediatrics to name a few.
