Ignore it: Sed rate is helpful when, and only when, the person seems sick and we need one more maybe-helpful clue in deciding if this is really systemic inflammatory illness. It is neither sensitive nor specific, but useful in a few uncommon situations. Plus, the test is hard to do right. Relax.
