Need more info: Blood pH can be low in metabolic acidosis and the person with a low pH is usually seriously ill.

Nature of a buffer: Buffers only buffer and don't really prevent pH change, only making the impact of sudden changes less. If your pH is low, you're probably sick. In fact, every time you exercise, you drop your pH.
