IBS: There is really no specific test for irritable bowel syndrome at this time. It is a diagnosis of exclusion. In-other-words, you have certain symptoms such as bloating, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea and/or constipation. A multitude of tests are done and nothing is found. What you can do is alter your diet and see if it helps. For example; eliminate wheat and/or dairy. Good luck!

No: Ibs is a diagnosis of exclusion. A doctor should exclude all other possible causes first

Not really ...: There is no diagnostic test for IBS. The diagnosis is made in conjunction with your Dr on a basis of symptoms; typically abdominal pain, bloating and altered bowel habit. If the diagnosis is quite clear most Drs will still request a blood test to exclude inflammatory bowel disorders, coeliac disease, ovarian disease and possibly a stool test for bowel inflammation.
