Prevention first: Obviously, the first thing is to try and prevent it by not overdressing baby/toddler when out in heat and if out in the heat, try things to cool off (sprinklers, etc). If rash has developed keep clean and dry, apply over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream to area or apply a corn starch based powder (put powder in your hand first and then rub on to affected areas). Diaper area use a zinc oxide cream.
