What is it like to be close to death?

Different experienc: I can only speak for myself- When near death in extreme physical pain - i was just focused on the pain - I wasn't thinking about much else. In another situation in the seconds just prior to a major physical trauma I visualized someone telling my mother I had died. I think it is likely different for many people
