Depends: This is a condition in which the natural focusing power of the eye burns a hole in the macula. The phtoreceptors that are burnt are permanently lost although the edema next to the burn may recover.

I have had diabetic maculopathy for two years now, and it keeps resolving and then coming back. There is an area with leaking fluid near to the macula, but my vision is very good and they dont want to treat it yet. Should treatment not commence now?
