What to do if i have physical therapy for herniated discs but it made the pain worse?

Herniated disc : If physical therapy for the herniated disc makes the pain worse then stop it. Ask your physician for another nonoperative measure such as a cortisone shot with a pain management physician. If you exhaust all the nonoperative measures and the pain is limiting you in your daily activities then surgery may be indicated.

Disc herniation: If therapy made the pain worse then you should stop and try something else. Other options are epidural injections or surgery.

Varies: You may want to hold off on further therapy, or just be a little less aggressive with the therapy. If therapy is not the answer, some patients will just wait it out longer knowing disc herniation a can heal 80-90 percent of the time. Others will seek more aggressive care such as epidural injections or surgery. I would discuss the specifics of your case with your doctor.
