Individualized.: Zoloft is not a pill like Xanax (alprazolam) or Ativan that makes you feel different. It takes 4-12 weeks to even notice it to start helping, it has side effects that vary by individual, and it usually helps with coping with anxiety/ depression feelings.

Dr Martínez-Irizarry: is right. It is well tolerated in general but possible side effects start right away. Getting the full benefit of the medication - usually takes 4 to 6 weeks once on optimum dose. It is important to know this so that you are patient. It can be helpful for tx of treatment of major depressive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, post traumatic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder
