Lymph Node: You could have swollen lymph nodes. However the swollen lymph nodes suggest an inflammatory or infectious process happening in your body. Since this has not resolved I would seek medical evaluation to determine why you have swollen lymph nodes and why its bothering you.

How hard?: Many lymph nodes are firm (like your strong, lean muscles), but hard (like your knuckle) is worrisome and may require biopsy. If the latter's the case, get seen now; otherwise, ask your personal physician at your next physical exam.

Have it checked: Lumps in the neck can be caused by a number of things ranging from from benign (like lymph nodes responding to an infection, cysts, or non-cancerous tumors) to serious things like cancer. Any neck lumps in someone who smokes are especially worrisome and should be checked by a physician. See your doctor so he/she can do an exam and recommend a specialist if needed (like an ENT doctor).
