Yes: Both "pelvic floor disorder" & vaginismus are arbitrary terms that refer to symptom patterns & speculative theories for cause of symptoms. They do not incorporate definitive known causes. In my experience the most fruitful search for causation regards musculoskeletal functions of pelvic girdle and presence or absence of a genetic variant called Joint Hypermobility Disorder.
