Yes: It is important to have a dilated eye exam to determine if the hypertension is causing any ocular problems. Also important to have your blood pressure monitered by your internist and get it under good control.

Unusual symptoms.: Although those symptoms wouldn't be typical, one could try to correlate the symptoms with a check of ones blood pressure at the time of the symptoms. The visual symptoms are of concern because, if occurring only in one eye, they could represent small calcified plaque traveling from ones carotid artery to the eye on the same side (called amaurosis fugax); best to see ones doctor about the symptoms
