Could be either: Taken by themselves, your symptoms could be either -- but are more likely premenstrual in origin because you said you had "protected" sex. If you are not sure how "protected" this actually was -- or you miss your period by a week or so -- you could take a home pregnancy test and get a more reliable answer.
