Early Diagnosis: Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) is a genetic disorder causing severe dysfunction of the immune response to infections (bacteria, viruses, and fungi). Several disease variants occur and symptoms can differ however most children die during their first 2 yrs from infection without treatment. Bone marrow transplant is curative. Early diagnosis and treatment are key to survival.
