You might.: Herpes simplex virus is generally transmitted from intimate mucosa to mucosa contact, usually sexually transmitted. While various antiviral drugs can reduce the number and severity of outbreaks in the sufferer, they do little to prevent transmission of the virus. I would say 4% is a very low guestimate. If therer are open lesions present, the chance of transmission greatly increases.
