A member asked:

I have been on the depo-provera shot for 2 years and my periods last 2 months out of the 3 months why haven't my periods stopped?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depo side effect: Irregular menstrual bleeding is a common side effect of Depo-Provera (medroxyprogesterone) because of how it works on your uterine lining. Sometimes this can be fixed with a course of estrogen or extra Provera (medroxyprogesterone) depending on what is going on with your endometrium or uterus lining but you may just need a different form of birth control all together. You should talk to your doc about a plan that fits you.
